Challenge

Rebrand a 20-year strong Classical Christian school with evolving needs, parents, and students. The initial school logo featured a custom one-color illustration of a specific stately tree on campus. The current administration at the school wanted a bespoke logo that paid homage to their name’s roots in the Lord of the Rings fantasy novels but also captured the modern vibe of the school currently. As the school grew in footprint and in grade levels, they wanted a brand that would honor the past and grow with the new generation of parents and students drawn to the school.

Services

WaterKress Creative undertook a mini re-brand initiative for Lorien Wood which included four unique school logos that incorporated a stylized version of the Lorien Leaf from the Lord of the Rings movies, a grounded, rich color palette, and a small library of illustrations and photos. WaterKress also developed their 20th Anniversary logo for signage and event collateral.

Results

Through WaterKress Creative's strategic rebranding efforts, Lorien Wood successfully positioned themselves as a unique educational institution in the saturated Northern Virginia area. The new brand identity allowed them to stand out uniquely among other schools, communicating their value for students’ self-expression and curiosity. Among administration, parents and students, it has fostered pride and confidence.
